This week Beauty Belle tries and tests... Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer
(£6.99 1fl oz, available from www.rimmellondon.com)
Getting back to basics with a great Primer is essential when creating the best canvas on which to put the rest of your make up and create a beautiful look, but can the cheaper primers stand up against the more expensive brands?
The brief: “Unique advanced formula with 5 in 1 results: smoothes to minimize pores, resurfaces for an even complexion, brightens skin all day, protects skin from environmental aggressors and mattifies and eliminates shine.? Create your smoothest, most even, poreless complexion! Foundation glides on more smoothly, more evenly and wears longer.”
How to apply: Apply to clean skin with a sponge or finger tips. Wear under foundation or alone.
The pros? This primer feels light and long lasting, it smoothes, brightens and mattifies as well as making your skin feel silky soft to touch. Worn under foundation and powder it creates a great base that will have your make up sitting still all night, and by itself it gives you a fresh faced look with a little pick me up for the skin. As well as being very reasonably priced for a primer, you only need to use a small amount at each application so it is great value for money.
The cons? It is a bit thin in consistency and does not ‘resurface’ like it says on the tube, lines and wrinkles don’t feel filled in and in terms of ‘protecting’ it is quite hard to tell if it does that either. Other more expensive primers do feel a little harder working, but this one does do a good job as a basic primer and base for make up.
Super rating: 3/5 - A well rounded cheaper primer.
