This week Beauty Belle tries and tests... Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream
(£7.99 for 500ml, available from www.boots.com)
BB or Blemish Balm creams are the latest craze on the make up market, they have been popular in Asia for ages but now the big western companies are releasing them over here. In between a foundation and a miracle face cream, I thought that I would try one out to see what all the hype is about!
The brief: “Maybelline Dream Fresh 8 in 1 BB Cream. Instant fresh-faced Glow without looking all made up. Our gel based formula enhances skin with 8 benefits in 1; 1. Creates a natural glow 2. Compliments skin tone 3. SPF30 UV Protection 4. Hydrates all day 5.Blurs imperfections 6. Oil-free, non-greasy 7. Looks visibly smooth. 8. Feels fresh!“
How to apply: Just apply a thin layer on your skin and you can use it with moisturiser if you want.
The pros? Dream Fresh BB cream by Maybelline has quite a full coverage allowing you to wear it instead of a foundation during the day. It evens out your skin tone really well and gives you a fresh made up look. The colour/coverage lasts a few hours but the moisturising qualities last a lot longer, plus it has SPF30, which is fantastic during the summer months, when you don’t want to be wearing a heavy foundation and your face needs a little sun protection!
The cons? As much as the packaging says that this cream is non-greasy it does feel a little bit greasy and does take quite a while to set, leaving that suncream feeling on your face for about half an hour. Plus at the moment Dream Fresh BB Cream only comes in 4 shades which might not cater to everybody.
Super rating: 4.5/5 - I can see why this BB cream has received such rave reviews it really does cover, hydrate, alleviate blemishes and protect your skin all in one!!
