This week Beauty Belle tries and tests... Mary Quant Eye Gloss
(£12.50, check www.maryquant.com for stockists)
If you have been staying up late to watch the European championships and have found that you wake up with dark circles under your eyes it may be worth thinking about an eye concealer that also doubles up as a primer and base for your eyeshadow. With the skin being more delicate around the eye area compared with the rest of your face it is worth considering whether a specific eye foundation/concealer could cover and revive your tired looking eyes better than your usual foundation...
The brief: “Moisturising eye foundation. This foundation is for the delicate and dry-prone eye area. It covers circles and dullness, and makes eye colours come out brightly.“
How to apply: Apply a little blob to the skin around the eye area with fingers or with a cosmetic sponge.
The pros? This product is called a gloss due to its lightweight oily finish which feels really nice and lightweight around the eye area. It does go some way to cover dark circles and really works as a primer, it doesn’t get too dry and really keeps your eye make up in place all day. It makes the skin around your eyes look more even, and leaves them feeling nice and hydrated. You only need to use a little, so one tube will last quite a long time.
Plus the packaging is super cool and based on the original Mary Quant packaging from the 60s, the MQ cosmetics range is worth checking out in it’s entirety with over 120 different eyeshadow colours, skin care, body care and application tools all presented in the same swinging sixties style.
The cons? Unfortunately Mary Quant products are quite hard to find, you can only order their products online from Japan or through mail order at their London store. It is also worth noting that this product is a light-to-medium coverage so depending on your skin you may need additional concealer and it is only available in two shades (although they blend really well so would suit a lot of people).
Super rating: 3/5 - Not the most exciting product in the whole range but still really good for the specific eye area.
