This week Beauty Belle tries and tests... MAC Eye shadow in Gesso
(£12.00, available from www.maccosmetics.com)
As we hurtle towards September the A/W 2012 Trends are the focus. It seems, beauty wise, that the catwalks were awash with bold lips, dark liner, gothic drama and white eye shadows. Wearing a new beauty trend updates your look cheaply and quickly without the need to go anywhere near designer shops.
The brief: Highly-pigmented bright white powder. Applies evenly, blends well.”
How to apply: To achieve this seasons look simply sweep this heavily pigment shadow all over the lid.
The pros? This eye shadow from MAC Cosmetics permanent collection is highly pigmented, which you need in a white shadow other wise it doesn’t look like its even on! It has a matte finish which gives it a more directional look and gives the impression of a true bright white that is key to this look. As with all MAC shadows it is long lasting when worn and in the packet, needs little
re-application, doesn’t ‘fall out’ and feels silky on your lids. Although it is bang on trend this season it can also be used for a classic 60s mod look and as a base for other eye shadow look.
The cons? The white shadow is a bold look that can be more fashion forward then ‘pretty’ and £12 is quite expensive for a trendy item that you might not wear everyday. It is really the quality of this shadow which dictates the price and cheaper white shadows are too thin or iridescent to give you the same effect that was seen at the big shows.
Tip: Buy palette refill pan’s of eye shadows from MAC for a £2 saving.
Super rating: 3/5 - A cool colour that you will want to have in your make up bag this coming season and beyond.
