This week Beauty Belle tries and tests... MAC Cremestick Liner
(£11.50 for 0.25g, available from www.maccosmetics.co.uk)

Fashion week has been and gone and in its wake left loads of cool new make up trends including purple and neutral lips. To achieve rich, colourfull lips with a long lasting edge a good lip liner is a must...

The brief: “A creamy, highly pigmented, retractable lip liner. Lightweight and smooth to apply: very long-lasting. Use as outline or as a fill. Helps prevent feathering and bleeding. Use with any MAC lipstick or gloss.”

How to apply: Draw around the lip line and fill in, blot, reapply, and then put your lipstick or gloss on top of that.

The pros? Easy to apply and available in this seasons hottest colours; try ‘Portside’ for a purple mouth and ‘Summerfruit’ for the fresh faced/neutral trend. These liners have a lovely creamy consistency and the applicator means that you don’t have to sharpen them and they don’t get blunt or scratchy. Using a liner beneath your lipstick or gloss really adds a depth of colour and a richness to the overall make up affect which is perfect for this Autumns trends.

The cons? Due to the creamy nature of the liner it isn’t as long lasting as it should be. It tends to slide off throughout the day and requires lots of reapplications, which sort of defeats the point of the product. Also, as these liners are heavily pigmented, you do need to match them quite well to your lipstick which means buying a few in different shades, which isn’t cheap!

Super rating: 2/5 - A gorgeous but flawed liner.
