This week Beauty Belle tries and tests... Kate Moss Matte Lipstick for Rimmel London
(£5.49, available from www.facebook.com/rimmellondon)
Supermodel collaborations with fashion & beauty brands is not a new thing, but this A/W 12 lipstick collection by Kate Moss is the first that she has done where the lipsticks all have a matte finish, and they are available exclusively through the Rimmel London’s Facebook page until October 3rd, after which they will become available in
stores. This little trick has garnered quite a lot of hype around the lipstick, but are they any better than her previous collections with Rimmel?
The brief: “Kate Moss brings colour to a new unique dimension. The gorgeous, rich colour of Kate’s lipstick – now in a velvety MATTE finish. The ruby powder enriched formula intensifies colour while keeping a matte finish all day long!”
How to apply: Apply with a lip brush or straight from the tube, apply one layer, blot then apply again.
The pros? As with the previous lipstick collections with Rimmel these lipsticks are heavily pigmented and have a bold true-to-swatch colour after two coats. They have a nice not-to-cakey texture and the selection of colours available (5 in total) mean that there really is one to suit every skin tone and preference. Plus they are really reasonably priced, the packaging is very cool, and Kate looks amazing in the ad campaign. This may be why 4 of the 5 shades are already sold out through the Facebook page shop!
The cons? Whilst they are billed as being Kate Moss’ first matte collection they are not entirely matte. They have a very slight sheen, which may be more comfortable when worn and be a bit more moisturizing. At the end of the day they aren’t truly matte which is a bit annoying as that is the point of them.
Super rating: 3/5 - Lovely lipsticks in great colours but only 80% matte!
